In order to investigate the effects of winter pruning in a scientific way on the fruiting of kiwi fruit vines of the Hayward variety and compare it with the traditional method among gardeners, an extension project has been carried out in two cities of Ramsar and Tonkabon with 15- and 12-year-old vines of the Hayward variety, respectively.By scientific pruning, 38 to 40 one-year arms with a length of 16 knots and a distance of 40 to 45 cm from each other were kept for each vine, and all fruit bearing and weak arms were removed. According to the results, scientific pruning increased the yield of each vine by 3.55 kg and the weight of each fruit by 27.09 grams. The length and diameter of the fruits were also greater in scientific pruning than in the traditional method, and it resulted in the production of fruits with more dry matter and vitamin C The comparison of the results of two locations also showed that in Tonkabon city, the average yield and weight of fruits were higher than in Ramsar, and the interaction of location and pruning method also had a significant effect on two attributes of dry matter and vitamin C of fruits. In general, it can be predicted that the use of the scientific method in the Hayward kiwifruit vineyards can increase the yield by about one ton per hectare, and lead to the production of a product with a higher quality and durability compared to the traditional method.
