This study was conducted to determine the best training and shaping system for grapevines through a factorial experiment in a randomized complete block design with four training methods, including bilateral cordon, T-shaped, and winged T-shaped, compared with the traditional creeping system (control), on the Thompson Seedless grape cultivar. The experiment was carried out with three replications from 2020 to 2022 in North Khorasan, Iran. Considering the vine capacity, light mixed pruning was applied: for every 450 g of pruned wood, 40 buds were retained, and for the next 450 g, 20 buds were maintained per vine. In all three trellis-based training methods, grape yield increased compared to the common creeping method in the region. Among them, the winged T-shaped system resulted in the highest yield per vine (3.88 kg), the highest raisin conversion ratio was obtained from four kilograms of fresh grapes using the double cordon method, yielding 2.36 kilograms of raisins. The sugar content (2.85 Brix) compared to the control. Due to advantages such as better canopy light interception, higher fruit yield, greater raisin production, uniform branch distribution, resistance to branch twisting by wind, reduced fungal infections, improved product quality, and easier pruning, the bilateral cordon training system is recommended as the superior method among the four tested systems for the Thompson Seedless grape variety, the dominant grape variety in the region.
